Fish Oil Concerns

Fish Oils and PCB chemicals?

On March 2, 2010 the news media reported on the presence of PCB's in several brands of fish oil supplements. I made a commitment decades ago to put quality first in my business and that will never change. A california law called Proposition 65 requires consumers to be warned of any product that has even the smallest amounts of compounds that may potentially have any health concerns. When they looked at fish oils, it was found that several brands contained PCB's which is a toxin. I am passionate and diligent in knowing the inside information on nutrition companies and almost every brand of fish oils we carry completely meet the standards for proposition 65 in regard PCB's. However Now Foods was the one company that did have excessive levels of this compound and we did sell small amounts of their product. I am extremely disappointed in the company that I have trusted and supported for years. Now company has extremely high ethics and I know that heads will roll however that does not relinquish their responsibility. A few other quality brands tested did contain very small amounts, (but less than any fish you probably eat) and all other brands we now carry have been certified to meet the standards for proposition 65 in PCB's. I personally have used and recommended Nordic Naturals, Dr Murray, Barleans or Carlson for years and they comprise almost 95% of all our fish oil sales and they have always passed every test for purity.

I consider fish oils and Vitamin D as the two most important and crucial nutrients for everyone's health and this is why I consider this so very important and I want everyone to know that you can trust Nutrition World to be the gatekeeper for your nutrition needs and I do not take this responsibility lightly.
